DIY Arduino build
« on: April 05, 2016, 14:51:53 »

So, decided to do a DIY build, seeing as I had most of the parts already, just needed a cheap £10 chinese knockoff arduino.:)

First try:

Decided to tidy it up and put it on a matrix board shield

Actually my first attempt at using matrix board. Normally use strip board or make a PCB.

Did have a problem with the power LED not coming on, and random disconnects. Turned out some of my solder joints were touching the USB casing. Ooops.

Just need to physically mount them motors to the EQ5. Thats the part I'm not so good at. :) Anyone still offering brackets? I may have to get my 3d printer working again.

Also, do you have a paypal address for donations? I'm doing the DIY version, but happy to send a tenner over for the hard work.

No idea, sorry. Tried viewing just the picture from both a different browser and one in incognito mode to make sure it wasn't only viewable due to being logged into an account. Try right clicking and viewing image in a new tab. Might give a better error.

I've just got my motor mounts done, and currently hooking them into the circuit to test them. Running a little hot at the moment, so need to tweak that a bit. :)

Then I need to figure out how to drive this thing. ;)

I can't view your images either darrenp.

As a test I've added an image here which I've uploaded to photobucket. After a few weeks wait my mega clone has arrived from China, along with a pair of 8825s. Sadly the breakout board hasn't shown up yet.

I have to say Tom, having built Mel Bartel's "Scope Drive" and Angel Caparros's, "PICgoto", that AstroEQ is really easy to get going. It took me all of 5 minutes to get the drivers installed for the Mega, and maybe another 5 to get Carte du Ciel/EQmod/AstroEQ all talking. What a great design.

Now it's a race to see whether I get the pier concrete laid before the breakout board arrives!
