AstroEQ Firmware V8.0 Released
« on: April 21, 2017, 14:51:28 »

Hi All,

It's taken a while, and it's a year later than I had planned, but I've now released V8.0 of the AstroEQ firmware.

You can download the release from the downloads page. You can also click the check for new firmware button in the configuration utility, though that will prompt you to download from the link above as the new version of the configuration utility is required.

I have also updated the tutorial on using the configuration utility to include more information about the various new settings in the utility. If you are unsure of what anything does, hopefully that tutorial should answer some of your questions.

Thanks also to all those that participated in the beta testing, it's been very helpful getting your feedback :).

Kind Regards,
Tom.

Thanks, thanks, thanks!
I've changed mount motors and really waited for this, expecially for "Gear changing" option.

Hi,

Version V8.03 has now been released, along with an updated version of the configuration utility.

Amongst other things, this should fix some of the issues with gear changing from V8.0.

Additionally I've added an extra "Load EQMOD" button to the main screen of the config utility so that EQMOD can be test run without going through the full process of changing the config.

As always if you have any issues, let me know, I'll do my best to fix them ASAP.

Kind Regards,
Tom.

Woops, minor mistake in the last release due to a incorrect setting in Atmel studio after I moved the code across to use AS7 rather than Arduino.

V8.04 is now released. If you already downloaded V8.03 you can simply use the "Check for New Version" button in the config utility to grab the new firmware.

Kind Regards,
Tom.

V8.0.5 is now available.

Anyone using Arduino Mega's probably found that the V8.0.3/V8.0.4 firmware releases were non-functional. This was due to a mistake in the compile configuration due to moving to AS7.

Again, you can grab the new firmware using the Check for New Version button in the config utility.

As always, if you come across any issues, let me know either in this thread or the Github repository issues section.

Kind Regards,
Tom

IVal too small means that the steps per revolution is very high which means there is a limited top speed (IVal is effectively the top speed as a multiple of sidereal rate) and at higher speeds there are fewer different speeds. It will work fine regardless, just a warning. You can reduce the number of microstep levels to compensate for having a 0.9* motor if you wish, but it should work fine either way.

(p.s. I've removed the other post for you)

Thanks for fast reply!
I will try if my allready good tracking will show some improvement whit 32 microsteps. Last season I used 16 microsteps and it worked fine. Did you look that clip, you think the sound is ok? Never had that kind of sound in the motors before. The sound is same whit 16 microsteps. I use drv8825 controllers whit heatsink+fan, at about 1.6A
