Hi all.

Can anyone please advise me of the way to work out how long the belts should be on NEMA 17 motors?

I have 40 tooth MXL pullies and 15 tooth MXL pullies.

It is impossible to get 128.02 and the 123.95 belts to fit as the pullies are to far apart.

In anticipation.

Many thanks

Hi Peter,

I use this tool. If you select "MXL", then 40T for large, then 15T for small, and finally the centre-to-centre distance between motor and worm shafts, it will tell you the nearest belt length.

Try to adjust your centre-to-centre distance so that you have a small amount of slack - the distance between the distance you entered and the "Center Distance Using Next Available Belt" that the calculator provides should be around 0.3mm (0.012"), but no more than 0.5mm (0.02").

Kind Regards,
Tom
