No connection in AstroEQ testing
« on: January 10, 2015, 21:02:21 »

Hi Tom, I just received an Arduino Mega2560 from China. Tested with some Arduino example scripts (EEPROM read and write also) and seem to work fine. I connected the board to an USB port of my laptop and I uploaded the firmware, then loaded an existing configuration (EQ3-2 type1), just to try. All goes well but when AstroEQ launch EQMOD to test the mount EQMOD give me an error about Connection error (mount not found, see attached figure). Currently I have the Mega2560 board alone, connected to laptop. No other hardware.

Thanks,
Gigi

Hi Gigi,

That's ok. Try unplugging the Mega, plugging it back in, and then connecting EQMOD using something like CdC. There is a glitch in the config utility which affects the Arduino Mega which stops it being able to load EQMOD as part of the configuration process - doesn't matter though, it is programmed and won't affect your ability to use the controller - you just have to unplug it and plug it back in after you exit the config utility.

I have actually fixed the glitch in the utility, I've been meaning to release it. Will do that tomorrow once I've finished soldering the next batch of controllers.

Regards,
Tom.
