« on: October 09, 2017, 09:54:38 »

I use 12V SECM8 stepper motors with maximum coil current 2.8 A, from http://www.astro-electronic.de/
Do anyone have some knowlage that AstroEQ driver is suitable for that type of motors?
Cheers!

Hi,
Tom can answer you better than me about the maximum power that the motor drivers can manage, but maybe you will need to add a heat shink to the motor drivers (if I'm not wrong, each motor will have a maximum consumption of 12 * 2.8 * 2 = 67.2 Watts)

regards,

Hi Damian,

The AstroEQ is rated for motors of 1.5A/phase at most. Any more than that will cause damage to the driver chips and protection diodes.

You could use the motors, but would have to set the current limit to below 1.5A which will reduce the torque of the motors considerably.
