1/16 ustep issue
« on: November 21, 2017, 07:17:51 »

Hi, I just buy an ASTROEQ controller and I´m happy with - thank You !

When I set 32 ustep level, everything work ideal, sidereal and slew speeds works fine, goto works fine, but then I have a slow iVal.
For my mount with it´s own gears i need set 1/16 ustep level, then I have iVal=307 . Problem is sidereal speed in 1/16 ustep level. Motor do full steps at sidereal speed. But when I use slew speed over 200x sidereal / W or E button at EQMOD /, motor starts make usteps with right speeds.

I use version 4.7 and my settings for RA axis are:

Motor Driver IC type : 882x
 uStep Gear Changing : enable
 Motor ustep Level : 16
 Motor Step Angle : 1.8 °
 Motor Gear Ratio : 22
 Worm gear ratio  : 60
 Goto Rate /x sidereal/ : 816

 Motor curent is 1,2 A      / 0.6 V  at Vref pin /.

I tried different settings but always with the 1/16 setting did the full steps at sidereal speed and slew speeds less than 200x sidereal. With 1/8 usteps level all works fine again.
Can you advise me how to solve this problem please?

 Thanks, Peter.

Could you try the Beta version from the R&D section of the forum and see if the problem persists.

I think there is an issue with 1/16 stepping and the DRV8825 in the last release firmware that should be fixed in the beta.

Hi, thanks for reply. A beta version has solved the microstepping issue. Now I need to solve a meridian flip. I do not need it ( fork mount ) and EQASCOM settings.

 Thanks again !

Hi, I managed to solve the meridian flip but it took a few moments. Just enough to understand EQMOD behavior. After setting EQMOD I can use GOTO all over the sky.
I'm delighted that Tommy shared this project, it helped me a lot.

Thank you and I wish you marry Christmas !
