AstroEQ 8.11 Released
« on: February 03, 2018, 12:26:40 »

Hi All,

I've now released V8.11 of the AstroEQ firmware and V3.8.2 of the configuration utility.

You can download the release from the downloads page. You can also click the check for new firmware button in the configuration utility, though that will prompt you to download from the link above as the new version of the configuration utility is required.

The configuration utility will no longer request elevated (admin) rights to run so you will no longer be prompted by UAC. I finally tracked down what was causing windows to think that admin rights were required - stupidly it was because the work "Update" appears in the EXE manifest! I've modified the manifest to tell Windows that admin rights are not required.

Thanks also to all those that participated in the beta testing, it's been very helpful getting your feedback :).

Kind Regards,
Tom.

Dear Tom,
Thanks for this great job of designing AstroEQ and working on it.
I am facing problem even in new version.

Dec gear ration in my case is 1.8.
If I give 1.8, it shows error. I have to give 1.798. It shows error even at 1.796.

I am attaching conf file here.

I've uploaded a fix for the config utility to this thread: https://www.astroeq.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,265.0.html

Could you give it a try.

Hi Tom

Due to distractions, I have only just picked up my TC2100/0.9 degree motor project again (previous posts were under Beta Firmware Releases).  I now have the Watterott TC2100 drivers working under 8.11 and they operate extremely well - very smooth and absolutely silent.

For reference, with the Watterott boards, the CF1 and CFG2 pins need to be open circuit to operate in 1/16 step mode, other than that, no jumpers/soldering required.

Strangely, I am unable to get 8.11 running on my DRV8825 based controller - am investigating that currently.

Regards

Dave

Dear Tom,
Thanks for new version of config utility of AstroEQ.
It has solved the error for DEC calculations using Arduino MEGA2560.

I have another issue now.
My config is as follows

Motor step angle 1.8
Motor gear ratio is 1.8
Worm gear ratio is 87:1

My DEC motor is jerking.
What should be GoTo rate??

I have checked my custom made PCB many times, tracks are fine with excellent continuity.

Please help..

Hi,
just decrease the GoTo ratio until the movement is smooth. I think you don't need to go across the sky in 5 seconds (and your mount will suffer less). In my case, x400 is fine

Hi,
First of all sorry for this post.
I found out the mistake, I have made the pcb tracks at wrong pins..

Will test with correct pins tonight and if the problem still persists I will revert back..
Once again Thanks Tom for great job in designing AstroEQ.
