Author Topic: Error in configuration of AstroEQ board( TMC2208 EQ3D 1.8 stepmotor)  (Read 5287 times)

dear every one

I made  a board of a MEGA2560 motherboard,  the driver used TMC2208. According to the following configuration, the RA axis of EQ3D cannot be  tracked and    fail to  slewing

                           RA            DEC
Motor Step Angle   1.8            1.8
Motor Gear Ratio   81/9    :1      2.333333
Worm Gear Ratio   130    :1         65
Microstepping           16            16                TMC2100/  faster slew on
               
TOTAL Steps         3744000         485333.3333
Worm Steps         28800            7466.666667

Manually set the rotation Angle of the ra axis for 6 hours. The equator will only rotate by 10-15 degrees.
When tracking stars,  i need to set the 7x rate to track properly
DEC axis setting was working right

whats my problem there? what i missed ?

TMC2208 isn't one of the drivers I've tested.

I've just checked and its mode select pins have very different meaning from the TMC2100, so it's no wonder it is not tracking at the correct rate.

I would need to add support to both the config utility and the AstroEQ firmware in order to support those drivers.

can i connect the mode select pins ms1 and ms2 on tmc2208 to high volt ,  useing tmc2100 config without ustep change ?
i find out tmc2208 is more silence then tmc2100 (i bought two tmc2100)

No,i can't , i tested


by the  way  , TMC2100 slew speed only works at 400x, is that right?

I'll add support in the next release, but with the workload I have at the moment, that may have to wait for a couple of weeks.

Hi, first at all, great job Tom!
I'd also tried the TMC2208 but something is wrong with the slewing. I used the A498x 1/16 & 1/2 because Mode0 and Mode1 match with the TMC2208 MS1 & MS2. But when reaching 1/2 the motor stops and just sings. Even higher current couldn't change that. With the library example the motor works even at higher speeds (1/2). Has anyone the same problem. I want to use the 2208 because of the 1/256 interpolation, way better then the other drivers.
