RA: WARNING IVal small, non-sideral speed accuracy lower…..
« on: September 20, 2019, 20:31:40 »

Hi Tom.
I have some questions about the subject.
When I had an 1.8º AR motor, and I load the “EQ5-Custom Pulley.conf” file, I got the following Window (first picture). In the message area, everything seams ok.

Now I have installed an 0,9º NEMA17 AR motor. Now the AR axis moves much better than with the NEMA14 motor.
But, when I click on “update”, I get the following window (second picture) with these warning messag-es.
Tom, I don’t understand the meaning of the warnings, could you help me?
What is the “IVal”?

Thanks

Mateo

Hi Mateo,

It simply means that there will be fewer available speeds to choose from. For example you might select 90x speed in EQMOD, then change to 96x speed, but find that both end up the same.

This is only really a problem if you are trying to track high-speed objects like satellites. For lunar/solar/sidereal tracking it won't cause any problems.

Essentially it boils down to a limitation on how fast the timers in the microprocessor can run.

Kind Regards,
Tom.
