There are not yet any available.

I will update this thread once they are available and with number of available controllers.

Kind Regards,
Tom

p.s. I am using the free version of the shopping cart tool which doesn't allow stock levels to be set. It's simply not worth the monthly cost of a subscription for the cart software just to get that feature.

Hi,

Good news, the assembled AstroEQ PCBs have been shipped to me, due to arrive this week.

I'll still need to build them in to the enclosures, but that won't take too long. I will have new stock ready to ship on the 19th June.

Kind Regards,
Tom.

Hi Tom,

I am interested in buying one of your AstroEQ units and cables, can you please email me with a total cost and how I go about buying one as they do not seem to be showing up on the Buy page. I am located on Long Island in the US.

regards
Les

The boards have now arrived.

Once I've checked they work and put some in boxes I'll add the AstroEQ item back to the purchase page. It should be available to order again this weekend if all goes to plan.

Kind Regards,
Tom.

There are now 50 AstroEQs ready to purchase.

I have re-enabled the item in the AstroEQ store, and anyone wishing to order one is welcome to do so.

Kind Regards,

Tom.

Hi Tom,

I'm interested in purchasing one of your AstroEQ modules and fitting it to my Losmandy G-11. Your purchase page said to contact you for availability. From the previous posts I see you (may) have a few available. Thought I'd check first, just in case.

cheers

Rick

Hi TCWORLD, I am very interested in the AstroEQ, in part because I previously constructed a similar board (named Picastro) that is unfortunatel no longer maintained.
This time, I would like to buy it directly to save some time, but before, I wanted to ask a few questions, don't hesitate to point me to some documentation if my questions are too silly:

-I would like to be able to add a hardware sensor to avoid telescope mount collision, and setup automatic routine upon hardware related event, do you think this would be feasible ?
-If I once decide to change for more powerful steppers, is it easy to change the power boards that receive the PWM (for big easy for instance) ?
-I can get a high quality 14V power supply with the right connector, is it ok to feed the AstroEQ card with that (instead of 12V)?
-I would like to buy AstroEQ already built, are there some available ?
-Are the boards tested before they are sent ?

Thank you in advance for your help, and this nice opensource project

Hi,

Hopefully the following should answer your questions:

- It isn't really possible to add any mount collision sensors - there's no way in the Synta mount protocol to report back to EQMOD of a failure for example, and at the moment there is only 1 spare I/O pin on the MCU. However EQMOD does have extensive software limit capability in that you can program the locations where a mount collision would occur and it will stop the mount if it encroaches those limits (it also redirects any go-to movements to avoid a collision). I could in a future firmware revision make that spare I/O pin into an emergency stop pin (essentially it would be that if anything pulls that I/O pin low would kill the motors) if that feature is needed.
- If you want to use external motor drivers for higher power, AstroEQ should work with any driver that has step and direction signals (ideally also an enable signal, but not critical). The only limitation there is that there will be no simple way of AstroEQ changing the step mode, but with the gear changing disable option in the config utility this is not an issue, you just have to make sure that the drivers are programmed to a microstep mode which matches the value in the config utility.
- AstroEQ should be fine running with 14V - the nominal voltage is 12V, but anything in the range of 10-15V is perfectly acceptable. Just make sure to use a 5.5mm x 2.1mm barrel jack wired for centre positive.
- There are plenty of AstroEQs currently available, and I do check basic functionality of each one before I post them (essentially just a simple motor routine to make sure EQMOD connects and it can drive steppers in all directions).

Kind Regards,
Tom.
