Hi Tom,

Happy new year.  I'm very interested in building your AstroEQ controller and hoping to order the two pre-programmed ICs for DIY. Do you also sell the pcb ready to build? I'm fine with soldering etc. it's been many years since I've etched a pcb.

I'm planning on using with a EQ3-2 with NEMA14 motors, is there anything different with the gearing I should be aware of or will those listed for the EQ5 be ok?

Thanks

Hi Tom,

I'd like to buy an AstroEQ from you, preferably a unit that is already assembled so I don't have to do any soldering. Are there any available at the moment? I'm in Bristol and I'm hoping to use it with the original Vixen Atlux.

Cheers,

Angus

Hi,

Currently there are no more left of the last batch.

I'm hoping to do another around Easter, but because of the amount of time it takes to assemble them manually, I am looking at redesigning the board to be compatible with having them professionally assembled - being no longer a student it's difficult to find time to spend several days soldering each batch. I don't have a set timeframe as it will take at least 25 days to get a batch manufactured before which I need to find time to redesign the PCB.

I do have another batch of PCBs on order coming in about 2 weeks so at that point I will have programmed ICs + PCBs available again.

Kind Regards,
Tom.

Hi Tom,

I am wondering if you would consider selling just the pcb.
You see I bought the pre-programmed chips about a year ago thinking that I would etch my own board.
Well, life intruded and I never go around to building anything. Just recently I had time to start in again and looked at your website to see what might be new and I see that now you are selling boards with the chips.
So, let me know if that is an option and if so, what the price + ship here to the US.

Thanks,
Bon

Hi,

For the next batch of AstroEQs, I am planning to do a batch of either 25 or 50. I learnt from the last batch that if I am doing more than a handful, the amount of time it takes to manually solder them all is immense, and even with lead-free solder and extractor fan it is probably not good for me in the long term.

As such for this batch I will be getting them assembled professionally. The net result of this is a delay to my Easter estimate. In order to support machine assembly I've had to design a new PCB which is more compatible with automated processes which has meant I've had to make a couple of prototype boards. The final prototype appears to be functional so I have sent the design off to get a quote for assembly.

Best estimate it will be between 25 and 30 working days for manufacture and assembly in order to keep the costs down which factoring in Easter puts us somewhere at the end of May.

I'm sorry to push the estimate back a month, but I hope you can understand the necessity. On the plus side getting 50 made would allow for greater availability between batches.

Kind Regards,
Tom.

Hi, on the "Buy an astroeq" page,  there seems to have some controlers available.
Could you confirm me that it's ok please?

Regards.
