DRV8825 vs TMC2100
« on: October 05, 2022, 00:18:14 »

Hi all

I have been using for a long time, two DRW8825 drivers in my system. Now I have realiced that, in the new version of the Configuration Utility, the newer driver TMC2100 is supported.

Althought I have been reading about TMC2100, I am not able to see the benefit of using this one.

Could you please tell me the differences and the benefits of using the TMC2100 instead of DRW8825?

Thanks a lot for your help

Mateo

Hi Mateo,

Sorry, I missed this post.

I haven't really looked into the advantages/disadvantages of the TMC2100. Somebody requested that support for the module was added as they wanted to use them, and it was fairly straightforward to add.

There are a few results on other forums discussing different drivers. I think the take away is that the TMC2100s are much quieter than the DRV8825.

Kind Regards,
Tom

Thanks Thomas.

I think noise is an issue to people using 3D printers, but I do not think this is important in our case.
I would like to know wich one is more efficient and precise.

Thanks again Thomas
