Mount Support / HEQ5 non goto

Hi,
I recently purchased a standard HEQ5 (non GOTO or SynScan) which has a ST4 port wired to the controller. I was wondering if this would work with the "AstroEQ"? If not, what modifications would I need to make to the mount? Also would I be able to use it for deep space astrophotography?
