General Discussion / Re: Direction reversing at random

If it is a wireless gamepad dont now if this will help. I had similar problems and it was the gamepad shorting and sticking on the paddle. Binned it and got another and now it is fine.

Capabilities Question / Autoguiding
« on: August 08, 2016, 15:17:26 »
Hello there, can anyone tell me if this will work
1 Guide camera plugged in to PC
2 Astroeq plugged into motors and PC
3 PC running PHD2, EQmod, CdeC
Do I need anything else to attempt to autoguide. I am a bit confused as to what else I may need, if anything. I keep coming across ST4 connectors to serial, ST4 to usb and I am not sure as to what to do. I am hoping AstroEQ will be right for the task of moving the motors during guiding.
Thanks for your help
Regards.....Geoff

Due to ill health I have not used my ASTROEQ for quite a while. I have now noticed we are up to version 7. Mine is version 4.4 and the question is do I need to update the new firmware to get more from my box of tricks. Any help greatly appreciated.

General Discussion / RA motor heating up
« on: June 08, 2015, 14:16:18 »
Hi there wonder if anyone could help me. I turn the pot on the RA whilst the motor is slewing til it gets just starting to go warm. It will slew and track without getting hot. But, when the motor is idle it really gets hot, so hot in fact you can hardly touch it. I then have to back it right off to stop it doing this and once again the motor is stone cold when tracking/slewing. The dec is fine. These are the skywatcher dual axis motors. Thanks in advance for any help you may offer to me...Geoff

Capabilities Question / Starry Night Pro
« on: June 03, 2015, 16:18:36 »
Hi, can you tell me if I can use my set up, EQ5 and astroeq, with starry night pro 7. It works fine with Carte de Ciel but I would like a more detailed planetarium software. I would use Stellarium but I have terrible trouble running this program on my laptop. Thank you in advance....Geoff
