General Discussion / Re: DRV8825 vs TMC2100
« on: October 18, 2022, 23:28:16 »
Thanks Thomas.

I think noise is an issue to people using 3D printers, but I do not think this is important in our case.
I would like to know wich one is more efficient and precise.

Thanks again Thomas

Thanks a lot Thomas for your quick and efective answer.

The problem is solved. I have just done what you told me to do, and it works.

Again, thanks a lot.

On the other hand, Thomas. Have you any thing to say about my question two days ago about comparing DRV8825 and TTMC2100?

Hi all

I am having problems with USB connection. Since my Windows 10 have got the latest updated, Windows does not recognice the AstroEQ USB  port. The status Led remains off (does not blink) and, in the (Device Administrator), I have the following message:

"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)"

I have tried with another PC which have not been updated, and IT WORKS.

Please, I need some help. I can not use my AstroEQ right now.

Thaks a lot

General Discussion / DRV8825 vs TMC2100
« on: October 05, 2022, 00:18:14 »
Hi all

I have been using for a long time, two DRW8825 drivers in my system. Now I have realiced that, in the new version of the Configuration Utility, the newer driver TMC2100 is supported.

Althought I have been reading about TMC2100, I am not able to see the benefit of using this one.

Could you please tell me the differences and the benefits of using the TMC2100 instead of DRW8825?

Thanks a lot for your help

Hi Pierre.
Thanks for your quick answer.
So that, according with Tom’s sentence in the link you mentioned (see below), without the need to connect a PC any time, as soon as you connect the Hand-Controller to the AstroEQ, this energizes (connect) the motors.
Am I right?

(When the hand controller is first plugged in, you must select ST-4 speed in order for it to be detected - selecting any other speed will not force the AstroEQ into standalone mode.)

Thanks again Pierre.
Best Regards.

AstroEQ Support / Using AstroEQ without a PC
« on: March 01, 2020, 16:56:08 »
Hi all.
I have observed that, once the AstroEQ is connected (via EQMOD), if I disconnect the PC, the AstroEQ keeps on running. So that, if it was at sideral speed, keeps on running at this speed.
I wonder, is it possible to start running AstroEQ (at sideral speed) without using a PC?
Thanks for your help.

General Discussion / Re: ST4 Port
« on: September 29, 2019, 20:54:25 »
Hi Tom

1-   Sorry Tom, I was not aware of these connections.
2-   Understood. Taking a look at the link about the fob, is there any chance to know the connections inside the fob with the (ATTiny10) microcontroller?
3-   Ok Tom, I have test what you said and, of course, it works.

Thanks again.

General Discussion / ST4 Port
« on: September 27, 2019, 17:09:32 »
Hi Tom
I have some questions about ST4
1-   In order to use ST4 connector, if I am right, you need to connect JP1 and JP2. What is the purpose of these JPs? Why didn’t you make the footprint of these four connections by default?
2-   On ST4 (1), what is the (IO0) for?
3-   Let say telescope is tracking at sidereal speed. If I connect JP1 (RA+) directly to GND, the telescope would go faster to west? Or do I need any other connection and/or action?
Thanks for your help and your patient.

General Discussion / Re: Skipping steps in AR Motor
« on: September 27, 2019, 16:59:56 »
Hi Victor,
Thanks a lot for your help.
As I said in my post, I do have balanced everything, but it wasn't enought.
I have changed the motor by a NEMA 17 0.9º in AR axis (I have no problem with DEC), with much more torke. I have solved the problem with skipping steps.
As I am new with EQMOM, I am testing everything, mainly autoguiding. At the end I whant to be able to take good pictures.

Thanks again Victor

Hi Tom.
I have some questions about the subject.
When I had an 1.8º AR motor, and I load the “EQ5-Custom Pulley.conf” file, I got the following Window (first picture). In the message area, everything seams ok.

Now I have installed an 0,9º NEMA17 AR motor. Now the AR axis moves much better than with the NEMA14 motor.
But, when I click on “update”, I get the following window (second picture) with these warning messag-es.
Tom, I don’t understand the meaning of the warnings, could you help me?
What is the “IVal”?

Thanks

Mateo

AstroEQ Support / Re: First start EEPROM not responding
« on: September 20, 2019, 19:51:34 »

Hi Duncos. I am not an expert, I have started recently using AstroEQ and, as any newbie, I have got to fight with my own troubles.
By Tom’s leave, I write down some steps hopping they help with your issues.

1-   Run astroEQ.exe
2-   Comport led blinks
3-   Select a comport
4-   Click on “update Firmware”
5-   If everything goes well, Status led should go ON
6-   If click on “NEXT”, the "AstroEQ Configuration Setup" window should appear.
8-   Click on the Folder icon and select the appropriated conf file
9-   Do the changes that you need, and click on “update”. In each axis.
10-   Click on “Done”, and the conf settings will upload to the AstroEQ.
11-   If everything goes well. EQMOD will pop up, and you should hear some kind of noise showing that motors are connected.

I hope this can help you.

Mateo

P.S. You did not need to solder the junpers, they are already made in the other side of the board (excep for the junpers to select the motor drivers)
