DIY AstroEQ / Re: Standalone Operation
« on: February 02, 2016, 20:33:04 »
Hi Tom,
those are excellent news!

I have a question: How to change the mode of operation on the fly? Or, what type of switches we should use, toggle or momentary?

Capabilities Question / Re: microstepping control

Hi Tom,

I have A4988 boards inside my mount, currently set with jumpers to 1/16 microstepping... so I may need to separate the control pins and bring them out to the connector...

Capabilities Question / microstepping control
« on: January 26, 2016, 21:36:44 »
Hi Tom,

On the Arduino shield schematic, MS1..3 are separate for RA and DEC motor drivers.

When I modified my EQ6, I placed microstep drivers inside the mount, and those control lines are internal and shared.
Do they really need to be separate, is there ever a situation where microstepping is different for RA and DEC (provided motors and drivers are identcal, of course)?

I can separate them.. and bring them out on DB15 connector (there are just enough pins for that!), but I would rather not if I don't have to.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, it is Arduino Mega.

Thanks!

I was thinking... maybe you do not need any additional buttons (apart from obvious four on ST-4)?
The mode could be controlled by pressing one or more of the existing buttons during power up....

Then, the unwired pin on ST-4 connector could be used for 5V...

General Discussion / problem with driver
« on: January 24, 2016, 04:12:23 »
Hi guys,
I have a problem with ASCOM driver, I can't install it.
However the whole thing still works, if I choose EQMOD ASCOM HEQ5/6...
What could be the problem here?
Thanks i advance!

Capabilities Question / Sync
« on: January 23, 2016, 23:23:15 »
Hi Tom,
When connected with CdC (v2.76.. as EQMOD HEQ5/6.. I hope this is right configuration), I tried to sync on arbitrary object on the other side of the sky.. but it didn't work.. not always. GoTo worked OK.
Is there any limitations, like with StepON (which I was also evaluating for my home built mount).

I was hopring to be able to just power up scope, manually point it to an object on the side of the sky where observation/imaging was planned and GoTo from there on the target, to save setup time.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Tom,
I just stumbled on this thread  :)
Yep, this is  exactly what I need.. well, almost (acceleration or at least much higher speed than 2x for positioning would be spot on.. perhaps 10-30x).
I plan to mount all necessary push-buttons on the electronics cover

I am willing and ready to test this functionality. Please let me know when you have code ready and where to get it from.
Thanks again!

Capabilities Question / Re: Using DIY motors without a PC
« on: January 23, 2016, 20:40:14 »
Yesterday I received shield PCB's I've made (slightly modified to suit motor connectors I am using on my mount).
Today the "first light" will surely happen :-)

And yes.. I would also be very interested in just basic tracking functionality without a computer (..sometimes I just don't have time for full GoTo setup), but with a possibility to add 4 buttons for up-down-left-right movement, (connected into ST4 port?) with acceleration if possible (.. when buttons are held pressed longer than, say 1 second, or perhaps this functionality could be enabled by logic level on some other processor port).

I wonder if there are plans to do something like that?
Is the source code organised in such a way that  something like this is possible to implement quickly and easily?

Thanks in advance!
Bojan

EDIT:  It seems the idea is already there :-)
I should have read the forum  posts more carefully....

DIY AstroEQ / Re: RAMPS 1.4 ?
« on: May 14, 2015, 23:02:41 »
Thank you for the reply :-)
Yes, I already have RAMPS 1.4.. and I assumed I am not the only one with that hardware on this forum :)

I had a look at PinMappings.h, and I saw that program is probably using variable microsteppeing.. so you are right, it is easier to build a proper shield ( I hate this expression, in my time this was simply called piggy-back or daughter board ;) ), instead of modifying RAMPS board..

DIY AstroEQ / RAMPS 1.4 ?
« on: May 12, 2015, 22:33:42 »
Hi Tom,
I am considering AstroEQ for my LDX75 (I purchased it with simple controller) mount because I have a spare Arduino Mega board.
While the PCB manufacturing is not a problem for me (only a slight hassle..), I am still wandering if there is a (easy) way to remap the IO pins to suit RAMPS 1.4 shield, which is widely used for 3D printers?

Also, does AstroEQ support simple LX200 protocol to directly connect to CdC?
Thanks in advance !
