Support for Meade LX200
« on: June 01, 2018, 18:10:18 »

Hi,
My friend is having meade LX200 and the telescope is not communicating now with the computer.

Is it possible to run that with AstroEQ?
I mean to ask whether AstroEQ supports LX200 protocol? and what are the changes required to be done in firmware?

Hi,

AstroEQ doesn't support LX200 directly. It talks to a computer using the Synta/Skywatcher protocol, requiring either EQMOD (Windows) or indilib (Linux/Embedded).

You can get EQMOD and I believe indilib to talk to an LX200 controller and then translate the commands to talk to the AstroEQ, but a computer must still be involved.
